Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC)
Front Post Double Crochet - Wrap the yarn over your hook, insert the hook to the right of the post, between the stitches, around the back and through the opposite side between the stitches on the left side of the post. Wrap the yarn over, pull it through, complete the double crochet.
Left Hand Version - Front Post Double Crochet - Wrap the yarn over your hook, insert the hook to the left of the post, between the stitches, around the back and through the opposite side between the stitches on the right side of the post.. Wrap the yarn over, pull it through, complete the double crochet.
Back Post Double Crochet (BPDC)
Back Post Double Crochet - Wrap the yarn over your hook, insert the hook to the right back of the post, between the stitches, around the front and through the opposite side between the stitches on the left side of the post. Wrap the yarn over, pull it through, complete the double crochet.
Left Hand Version- Back Post Double Crochet - Wrap the yarn over your hook, insert the hook to the left back of the post, between the stitches, around the front and through the opposite side between the stitches on the right side of the post. Wrap the yarn over, pull it through, complete the double crochet.
Chain 1 at beginning of round - The chain 1 is the step up to the next round and will be done on each round. When you work the post stitch of the first stitch, work around the chain 1 and post together. They will blend in.
Chain 5, join
Round 1: Chain 1, Work 12 DC through the chain, join. (12 double crochet total)
Round 2: Chain 1, Work 2 DC in each stitch around, join. (24 double crochet total)
Round 3: Chain 1, *2 FPDC next stitch(increase) , 1 BPDC next stitch, continue around from *, join with the first stitch. (36 post stitches total)
Round 4: Chain 1, *1 FPDC in each of the next 2 stitches, 2 BPDC next stitch(increase), continue around from *, join with the first stitch. (48 post stitches total)
Round 5: Chain 1, *1 FPDC next stitch, 2 FPDC next stitch(increase) , 1 BPDC next stitch, 2 BPDC next stitch(increase), continue around from *, join with the first stitch. (72 post stitches total)
Round 6: Chain 1, *1 FPDC in each of next 3 stitches, 1 BPDC in each of next 3 stitches, continue around from *, join with the first stitch. (72 post stitches total)
Round 7: Chain 1, *2 FPDC next stitch(increase), 1 FPDC in each of the next 2 stitches,
1 BPDC in each of the next 3 stitches, continue around from *, join with the first stitch. (84post stitches total)
Round 8-25: Chain 1, *Work 1 FPDC in each of the next 4 stitches, work 1 BPDC in each of the next 3 stitches, continue around from *, join with the first stitch. (84post stitches total)
Optional Cuff
Round 26: Work 1 round of double crochet in the front loop only. join with the beginning stitch.
Round 27-32: Chain 1, *Work 1 BPDC in each of the next 4 stitches, work 1 FPDC in each of the next 3 stitches, continue around from *, join with the first stitch. (84post stitches total)
Knot, secure and sew all the tails between the stitches.
