Romantic Heart fabric for gifts and decor: sewing tutorial

Romantic Heart fabric for gifts and decor: sewing tutorial
DIY: gossip from the heart

I went back to show you how gossip heart-shaped mold using Clover super. This site has a tutorial on how to gossip in the race, but I like the practicality thought best to use atemplate ready, making my life. The mold is on sale in shops patchwork good, mine isPaulinia Shop (tel 11 3032-8799 / 3031-1039). But there is another legal option, which is win one of these here in Superziper. Read the end of the post to learn how:) The promotion was CLOSED

1. Separate the mold, retail fabric, needle, thread and small scissors.
2. The mold is composed of two parts the "base" and "cover". With it you will be able to do a gossip about 2, 0 cm. Get to work! Place the fabric on the part of the pattern down,as shown in photo.

3. Close the lid and pressing, leaving the fabric burnt to a crisp in the mold.
4. Go with scissors trimming the edges of the fabric, leaving 0.3 to 0.5 cm margin.

5. Give a "chop" with the scissors within the range that sits on top of the heart.
6. Thread the needle and tie a little knot at the tip. Starting the hole to the left of the mold base, pass the line from the inside out.

7. The little knot the end of the line is in, see?
8. Continue sewing the inside of the holes on the outside of the mold and counter-clockwise. Every point you will sew the edges of the fabric so that they are inside.

9. Attention in time to sew the base, bend the tip of the fabric as shown in photo 10

11. Notice that the last point will override the first point where you started sewing.
12. Carefully remove the fabric from the mold.

13. 're Almost there! Pull the thread carefully and go curling your gossip and adjustingthe format.
14. Give a tight little knot and cut the line left. If you want to decorate the center preach asmall bud, or let the natural beads!

Sewing patterns:Heart Felt Pillow tutorial

I had some felt that I needed to find a purpose for from my Studio 5 appearance. So I decided to make a pillow using the same technique with the folded circles. (Sorry about the bad picture, it is the best I could do…we need some sunshine around these parts).
It took about the same amount of time as the wreath. I did not need as many circles and instead of using a 3 inch circle, I used one that was 2.25 inches.

My pillow insert measured 12 x 16 inches. So I cut 2 peices of fabric for the pillow cover measuring 14 x 18 inches.
I then took one peice of fabric and drew a heart that would be the outline for shaping my heart. Then I simply sewed each circle onto the pillow. One. At. A. Time! I know what you are all thinking! That I am crazy. But it was really relaxing and it was a good excuse for me to sit down and watch movies. I don’t sit down and veg much so it was kind of nice. Plus…the weather here has been cold and dreary.
Then, when you finish, place the right sides of your fabric together and sew a 5/8 inch seam around the edge and leave an opening on one whole side. Turn inside out, insert pillow and then hand sew along the edge. (Or you can make the back into 2 overlapping peices so that the cover can be removed).
I really like how it has turned out. My kids, however, thought it was a waste of a pillow. Apparently the felt ruffles are not comfortable to lay on! Sweet music to my ears. The pillow might actually stay on the couch!!

Crafts for home decor: MAKE A JERSEY KNIT SHAG PILLOW sewing tutorial

Crafts for home decor: MAKE A JERSEY KNIT SHAG PILLOW sewing tutorial
 what you will need:
*1 yard (to be safe in case of mess ups) of jersey fabric with the width of 60″ (jersey comes in a bolt length of anywhere from 42″ to 62″ or even wider…but the most common i’ve found is 58″ to 60″)   I ENDED UP GETTING 2 YARDS OF BLACK AND 1 YARD OF TURQUOISE SO I COULD MAKE MORE THAN ONE.
*2 squares of cotton fabric close in matching color to your jersey fabric cut to 11″ x 15″ (if you make a slightly larger pillow you will still be okay because you will have a little extra fabric)
cut from jersey fabric 19 strips at 1 1/2″ each.

*from each of the 19 strips cut 15: 4″ length rectangles. (you should be able to get 15, but if your fabric is wonky, and you get less than 15 it’s okay because remember you have extra fabric.)  I ended up cutting more strips  to make my pillow a bit fuller.
now take your two cotton rectangles cut to 11″ x 15″ on 1 of the right sides of your fabric, draw 3/4″ lines all the way across your rectangle. (you should get 19 lines)  I believe my lines were a little off on this too I think I only ended up with 18 but it is okay because the pillow still turned out darling! set the other piece of fabric aside as this will be the back of your pillow
next take one of your jersey rectangles, and measure at least 1/4″ down from the top of your pillow fabric, and start sewing a straight line using your drawn line on your fabric as your guide to place your jersey fabric strips.  as each strip is placed on the line scrunch it a bit while sewing it into place, continue adding strips one after another until you have a full line full of jersey.
Continue on until each row is full and it looks like a shag pillow.  Once done take your two cotton rectangles line them up and sew around all 4 sides. (inside out of course) leaving a small opening to fill the pillow with stuffing.   Once done turn the pillow so the right sides are facing out and stuff away!
Hand stitch your opening closed.  I know my tutorial isn’t that great but go visit Vanessa’s blog and you will see how detailed she is! I am in LOVE with my pillows     and they cost a total of $12.00 for 2 of them.

Boo Boo Bug, sewing for kids

Boo Boo Bug, sewing for kids

My daughter is a typical toddler and is wont to trip on the toys she leaves lying around, her pantlegs, or thin air. When she gets a bump we generally run for a bag of frozen peas, which usually confuses and interests her enough to make her stop crying. My niece used to have a cute little boo boo bunny, so I decided to make something similar. I drew a few sketches, but finally decided to go with the boo boo bug (partly due to my love of alliteration, but also because it came out cute and looked easy).

As you'll notice in future pictures, I altered the pattern a little on the way. I cut out some templates using the cricut and the George cartridge to make the small circle, as well as the half circle. I laid out the templates just to see how it would look.

I picked up a stack of washcloths from Big Lots that were bright and colorful and perfect for the job.

Then I cut out the pieces.

I've never worked with terrycloth before, and let me warn you, it can be a little tricky and MESSY! But after sewing it all together, here's what it looked like.

I left a space to fill it up with rice.

Then sewed the opening closed.

What do you think? My daughter doesn't quite get it yet. She just throws it on the floor like a beanbag. But hopefully next time she gets a boo boo, she'll appreciate it a bit more. Just in case you might want to make this as well, I put the template up here. Let me know if you do. :)
Happy crafting!

Unique felt crafts for banquet and more: sewing patterns

Citrus Coasters

Unique felt crafts for banquet and more: sewing patterns
Ever since the weather turned warm, I've had visions of pink lemonade and iced tea with lime wedges dancing in my head.  Summer also puts me in the mood to entertain so I thought it would be fun to have a set of coasters to match this citrus drink theme.

I love to have a summer sewing project that is portable so I can take it with me to the beach! Felt is often my material of choice for portable projects since it's ideal for hand sewing.  It's also great for making durable home items like these cheerful coasters.  For this project we used our Spring Felt Bundle because the bright colors reminded us of real citrus fruits.
I love that each coaster is slightly different from the next due to the handsewing. They will add a breezy, summery vibe to any table.  This is the kind of project you can do with very little experience since it requires absoultely no special skills or equipment.-- Molly

Materials

  • A Spring Felt Bundle
  • A Citrus Coaster Template, available for free download here, printed and cut out
  • Valdani Embroidery thread to match the colors of the felt bundle. I used colors 18, 10, 0244, 1212, and 45. You could also just use ecru on all of them if you don't mind seeing the stitches.

Cutting

For each coaster cut the felt as instructed on the template. You will have:
  • 2 large colored circles for the peel and the backing
  • 8 colored segments (4 cut from each segment template)
  • 1 ecru circle for the pith

Cut "seeds" out of two or three of the segment pieces by folding the segment piece in half lengthwise and then taking a small snip across the fold to take out a small triangular chunk out of the piece.

Sewing

Place the pith circle in the center of one of the colored circles. Then arrange the segments on top of the pith circle as shown above.

Pin all of these layers together.
Using thread to match the colored felt and a very small running stitch sew on the segment pieces around their edges.

Sew on all of the segments in this manner and press the piece flat.
Pin the other colored circle to the back of the piece.
Hiding the beginning knot in between the front and back colored circles sew the back on with the matching embroidery thread and a small running stitch all the way around the coaster.

Once you've gotten all the way around tie a small knot on the back piece and then pass the needle through the two layers and pull it out in the middle of the back. Snip the thread at the exit point thus hiding it.
Trim edges to make the front look nice and neat.

Repeat all steps to make 2 coasters from each of the colored felt pieces.
