Insert the hook to the side of the stitch(right if you are right handed, left if you are left handed), around the back and up the opposite side. Wrap the yarn over the hook, pull it around. Wrap the yarn over and pull through all loops. This completes the front post half double crochet.

Half Double Crochet Decrease - This is taking 2 stitches, reducing and combining them to 1 stitch. Wrap the yarn over your hook, insert the hook through the first stitch, wrap the yarn over and pull through the stitch. Leave the loops on the hook. Crochet Fingerless Gloves

Thank you to Sue, from Sue's Crochet and Knitting for permission to use her pattern in this video. The video is made with the glove for women. The male version, is a larger version for the same style.

This pattern can easily be modified to make the glove with 2 or 3 ply yarn. Start the pattern with the cuff. The cuff will have more rounds so you will start off with more stitches creating the palm and thumb increase section. Everything throughout the pattern will be the same other than working more rounds and more stitches in each round.

Copyright on the Finished Piece

I learn new things about copyright all of the time. This article about pattern copyright, is related to selling your finished crochet pieces upon completion, when the author says you may not sell your finished piece. The actual written pattern is copyright and may not be sold or redistributed, unless you have permission from the author. The only place I have seen authors do this is on the Internet. Copyright does not cover the finished work. You are not required to ask permission to sell your finished piece. If you have an opportunity to make some money from your crochet work, sell it. Before the Internet, I had never heard of a statement like that attached to crochet patterns. Maybe that is why the statement does not exist in crochet magazines. Copyright only protects your body of work like pictures, graphics, video, recording and writing that you have done yourself. It does not protect an idea or finished piece.

Work an embroidery chain across the center section of the towel.

It is not necessary to have a specific number on each row. The object is to decrease and then form a strap. I have used 6 stitches in the example to make the strap. You can use 8 or 10 stitches for a wider strap.

Row 1: 1 SC in ea SC across, turn.

Row 2-3: Ch 1, 1 SC in ea SC across, turn.

Row 4: Ch 1,  1 SC in ea of the next 2, SC DEC in the next Stitch, turn.

Row 5: 1 SC in ea SC across, turn.

Row 6: Ch 1,  1 SC in ea of the next 2, SC DEC in the next Stitch, turn.

Row 7: Ch 1, 1 SC in ea SC across, turn.

Row 8: Ch 1,  1 SC in ea of the next 2, SC DEC in the next Stitch, turn.

Row 9: Ch 1, 1 SC in ea SC across, turn.

Row 11: Ch 1, 1 SC in ea SC across, turn.

Row 12: Ch 1,  1 SC in ea of the next 2, SC DEC in the next Stitch, turn.

Row 13: Ch 1, 1 SC in ea SC across, turn.

Row 14: Ch 1,  1 SC in ea of the next 2, SC DEC in the next Stitch, turn.

Strap
Row 15 - 30: Ch 1, 1 SC in ea SC across, turn.

Work the crochet button first to make sure it will fit through the button hole.

ButtonHole on Strap
Work an even amount of single crochet on each side of of the strap.
Side 1 Row 31-34: Work 1 SC in ea of the next 3 stitches.

Side 2 Row 31-34: Work 1 SC in ea of the next 3 stitches.

Join with a slip stitch at the top to the opposite single crochet. Slip Stitch across to the edge. Turn.

Row 35-36: Chain 1, Work 1 SC in ea SC across.

Crochet Button
Work the magic circle or a chain 3, join.

Round 1: Ch 1, work 6 SC in the loop or chain. Do not join and work in a continual round. This will be working the first stitch in the top of the first single crochet.

Round 2: Work 2 SC in ea SC around.

Round 3-5: Work 1 SC in ea SC around.

Weave the tapestry need through the last round of stitches, pull to close the back. Sew and knot the back of the button.

Sew the button to the place you want it on the towel.

Quilling Conference in 2010

Many of you who follow my blog are quillers, so I wanted to take a moment to mention that there will be a Quilling Conference in 2010. There is an annual quilling conference that is open to quillers and quilling enthusiasts around the world.

Here are some snippets from the North American Quilling Guild (http://www.naqg.org/) website:

The NAQGCON, formerly Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a wonderful opportunity to meet other quillers, see their work and learn new techniques and applications for quilling...we have held an Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year since. In 2008 it was decided that the name should change to North American Quilling Guild Conference (NAQGCON) to let everyone know that this event is for everything quilling; sharing, teaching, learning, and most importantly enjoying.

In 2010 the NAQGCON will be held Friday, April 30th through Sunday, May 2nd at the Holiday Inn Ronkonkoma on Long Island New York, near the McArthur Airport.

Go here for forms and additional information for this fun event.

Since I live sort of within driving distance to this event I am going to make an effort to attend.. I so wanted to attend the event this year but there were situations outside of my control, I am hoping for a better turn of events in 2010.

I hope to see you there :-)

Hugs and Happy Quilling!
Antonella :-)
